P D Kennedy Is From Brunlea

The text is written in the form of a journal, telling of Kennedy’s‘great escape’ from Brunlea in 1971 and documents in detail the next three frugal years at teacher training college discovering alcohol, girls, art, and books – in that order. If the pages are fully extended the text will form a ​‘chimney’ 33 feet tall. Kennedy’s father was a renowned steeplejack, and the frontispiece has a photograph of Kennedy with his father on a chimney (by coincidence, exactly three times taller than the text of this book). A tortuous climb.
